Ingredients

  • 1 lb store-bought pizza dough or naan
  • ¾ lb ground beef
  • ½ medium onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • ¾ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp ground sumac
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 piece lemon wedges
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley
  • ½ cup thinly sliced cucumber

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. 2

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add ground beef and break it up with a spoon, cooking until browned, 5-6 minutes.

  4. 4

Stir in tomato paste, cumin, sumac, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and fold in fresh parsley and mint. Let cool slightly.

  5. 5

Divide pizza dough into 4 equal portions. On a floured surface, stretch or roll each portion into a thin oval or rectangle about 6x8 inches.

  6. 6

Place dough on prepared baking sheets. Spread 3-4 tbsp of the beef mixture evenly over each dough piece, leaving a 0.5-inch border.

  7. 7

Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and crispy. The edges should be well-browned.

  8. 8

Remove from oven and immediately garnish with fresh parsley.

  9. 9

Serve hot with lemon wedges and fresh cucumber slices on the side. Squeeze lemon over lahmacun before eating.
