Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless short ribs (kkotsal cut, thinly sliced)
  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1.5 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (white or black)

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat 1 tbsp sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 60 seconds.

  2. 2

Add sliced onions, season with salt, and cook 6–7 minutes until softened and charred at the edges.

  3. 3

Push onions to the side. Add beef in a single layer, let it sear 90 seconds per side without moving.

  4. 4

Combine soy sauce, remaining sesame oil, ginger, and brown sugar in a small bowl.

  5. 5

Pour glaze over beef and onions, toss gently for 1–2 minutes until caramelized and glossy.

  6. 6

Transfer to a plate, top with sesame seeds, and serve immediately.
