Ingredients
- ½ lb ground beef
- ¾ cup crispy fried onions (like French's)
- 4 slices provolone cheese slices
- 2 buns hamburger buns
- 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions
- 1
Divide ground beef into 2 equal portions. Form each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.
- 2
Season both patties generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- 3
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. When it's hot, add one patty and cook 3 minutes without moving.
- 4
Flip the patty. Place 2 provolone slices on top, then a handful of crispy onions over the cheese.
- 5
Cook 2 more minutes until cheese melts and the bottom is deep brown. Transfer to a plate.
- 6
Repeat steps 3–5 with the second patty.
- 7
Butter cut sides of the buns and toast them in the skillet until golden, about 90 seconds.
- 8
Place each patty (cheese and onions facing up) on the bottom of a toasted bun.
- 9
Serve immediately.
