Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread (white, wheat, or sourdough)
  • 2 slices cheese (cheddar, American, or gruyere)
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened
  • 0 salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

    Butter one side of each bread slice generously.

    Heat a skillet over medium heat until a drop of water sizzles on contact.

    Place one slice butter-side down in the pan. Layer cheese on top.

    Top with second slice, butter-side up. Cook until bottom is golden brown, ~3 minutes.

    Flip carefully. Cook until second side is golden and cheese melts completely, ~2 minutes.

    Remove to a plate. Season with salt and pepper if desired. Serve immediately.
