Ingredients
- 8 oz penne pasta (or any short pasta)
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup parmesan cheese, finely grated

Boil salted water in a pot, add pasta, and cook until al dente, ~9 minutes.

Reserve 1 cup pasta water, then drain pasta into a colander.

Melt butter in the same pot over medium heat, add garlic, stir until fragrant, ~30 seconds.

Add drained pasta back to the pot and toss to coat with garlic butter.

Remove from heat, add parmesan and 0.5 cup pasta water, toss until creamy and glossy, ~1 minute.

Add more pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce, then serve hot.
