Ingredients

  • 1 whole young coconut, in shell
  • ½ whole lime
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

    Using a sharp knife or machete, hack into the top of the coconut about 2 inches from the stem until you expose the white flesh and crack through to the water inside.

    Poke a hole wide enough for a straw or your mouth near the top and pour or sip the coconut water directly into a glass or cup.

    Squeeze half a lime into the water and stir in a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.

    Serve ice-cold with a straw, sipping immediately while the water is fresh.
