Ingredients
- 1 whole young coconut (green outer husk, tender white shell)
- ½ whole lime
- 4 cubes ice
- 3 leaves fresh mint leaves (optional)
- 1 pinch sea salt (optional pinch)
Instructions
- 1
Stand the young coconut upright. Using a sharp machete or knife, chop off the top third of the husk to expose the white inner shell.
- 2
Pierce the thin white shell at one of the three soft eyes (dark spots) using a straw, corkscrew, or sharp knife point.
- 3
Insert a wide bamboo straw directly into the opening. The water will pour out—catch it in the coconut shell itself if drinking from the shell, or pour into a glass.
- 4
Squeeze half a lime into the water. Add ice and a mint leaf if desired. Stir gently and sip immediately.
Tools you’ll need
- sharp machete or chef's knife
