Ingredients
- 1 whole young coconut (green), chilled
- 4 pieces ice cubes
- 1 piece drinking straw
Instructions
- 1
Stand the coconut upright on a cutting board. Using a sharp knife or machete, hack away the top fibrous husk in a circular motion until you expose the hard shell underneath.
- 2
Once the shell is visible, cut a triangular hole about 2 inches wide through the shell at the top of the coconut. Pierce the membrane inside with the knife tip.
- 3
Tilt the coconut over a glass and pour the water out. If it flows slowly, wiggle the knife hole to open it wider.
- 4
Add ice cubes to the glass if desired. Insert a straw and drink immediately for the freshest, most delicate coconut water.
