Ingredients

  • 1 piece young coconut, whole
  • ½ cup ice cubes
  • ¼ piece fresh lime
  • 1 serving coconut meat (optional, from the shell)
  • 1 piece bamboo straw

Instructions

    Using a sharp knife, whack the top of the young coconut in a circular motion until you expose the soft husk beneath the outer shell.

    Cut away the exposed husk to reveal the thin white shell underneath, then puncture a hole at the top with the knife tip.

  3. 3

    Insert the bamboo straw into the hole. The fresh coconut water will flow naturally into your cup or drink directly from the shell.

    Squeeze lime over the top if desired, add ice to a glass, and pour any remaining water to chill. Sip immediately.
