Ingredients

  • 8 slices brioche or white bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. 1

Cut each bread slice in half lengthwise to make sticks about 1.5 inches wide.

  2. 2

Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla in a shallow bowl until smooth and frothy.

  3. 3

Melt butter in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until foaming, ~1 minute.

  4. 4

Dip each bread stick into egg mixture 1–2 seconds per side; let excess drip off.

  5. 5

Place sticks in skillet in a single layer without crowding. Fry 2–3 minutes until deep golden.

  6. 6

Flip sticks and fry the other side 2–3 minutes until golden and cooked through.

  7. 7

Transfer to a plate and serve hot with maple syrup for dunking.
