Ingredients

  • 2 cups neutral oil for frying
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz chocolate (chopped or chips)

    Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high until a wooden spoon handle bubbles vigorously when dipped, ~2 minutes.

    Combine flour and water in a piping bag fitted with a large star tip; stir until smooth batter forms.

    Carefully pipe 4-inch churro lengths directly into hot oil; fry until golden, ~90 seconds per side.

    Transfer fried churros to a paper towel–lined plate with a slotted spoon; immediately roll in cinnamon sugar.

    Warm chocolate in a small bowl over simmering water or microwave until melted and pourable, ~2 minutes.
