Ingredients

  • 1 loaf (8 oz) ciabatta bread
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella
  • 2 large ripe tomatoes
  • 12 leaves fresh basil leaves
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.5 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

    Slice ciabatta bread horizontally in half. Lightly brush cut sides with olive oil.

    Slice mozzarella into 0.25-inch thick rounds. Slice tomatoes into 0.5-inch thick rounds.

    Pat tomato slices dry with paper towels to prevent excess moisture.

    Layer mozzarella slices on bottom half of ciabatta, then arrange tomato slices on top.

    Scatter fresh basil leaves over tomatoes. Season with sea salt and black pepper.

    Drizzle with balsamic vinegar, then place top half of bread over filling.

    Press gently, cut in half, and serve immediately.
