Ingredients

  • 12 pieces frozen wontons (pork)
  • 4 tbsp neutral oil (divided)
  • 3 tbsp chili oil (store-bought)
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp Sichuan peppercorns (or red pepper flakes)

Instructions

    Heat 2 tbsp neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 60 seconds.

    Add 6 wontons in a single layer. Pan-fry without stirring until golden and crispy on one side, 2 minutes.

    Flip each wonton and fry the other side until crispy, about 90 seconds. Transfer to a plate.

    Repeat steps 2–3 with remaining 2 tbsp oil and 6 wontons.

    In a small bowl, whisk chili oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, and Sichuan peppercorns until fragrant, 30 seconds.
