Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb pork belly
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Place the 1.5 lb pork belly in a pot with 6 cups water and 1 tsp salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low and simmer until the meat is tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 40 minutes.

  2. 2

Remove the pork belly from the pot and let it rest on a cutting board for 10 minutes. Reserve 2 tbsp of the cooking liquid.

  3. 3

While the pork rests, thinly slice the 2 green onions, separating the white and green parts.

  4. 4

In a small bowl, mix the 3 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp reserved cooking liquid, the white parts of the green onions, and 1 tsp red chili flakes. Stir to combine.

  5. 5

Slice the rested pork belly into 1/4-inch thick slices and arrange on a serving plate.

  6. 6

Pour the soy sauce mixture over the sliced pork, then sprinkle with the green onion greens. Serve warm.
