Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup condensed milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 whole cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp rose water
  • 2 cups neutral oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Add 0.25 cup water and knead until soft, smooth dough forms.

  2. 2

Crush cardamom pods. Heat sugar with 1 cup water and cardamom until syrup thickens, ~3 minutes. Stir in rose water.

  3. 3

Roll dough into 8 balls. Flatten each gently into a 3-inch disk, keeping them soft and unstretched.

  4. 4

Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F. Fry disks 60 seconds per side until puffed and golden without moving them.

  5. 5

Drop fried disks into warm syrup. Let soak 30 seconds, turning once to coat both sides evenly.

  6. 6

Arrange on a plate, drizzle generously with condensed milk, and serve warm.
