Ingredients

  • 4 fillets fresh herring fillets, cleaned
  • 2 rolls soft white bread rolls
  • ½ onion yellow onion, sliced thin
  • 6 gherkins dill pickle gherkins, sliced
  • 2 tbsp, chopped fresh dill
  • 1 to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

    Place herring fillets on a board. Pat dry with paper towels.

    Split each roll and toast lightly if desired for a slight crust.

    Layer 2 herring fillets inside each roll, skin-side down.
