Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices cheddar cheese, sliced
- 2 eggs hard-boiled eggs, halved
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- ½ cup water or beef broth
- ½ medium onion, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
Instructions
- 1
Divide ground beef into 4 patties on a cutting board. Flatten each to 1/4-inch thick and roughly 5 inches square.
- 2
Layer 1 slice of cheese and 1 egg half in the center of each patty. Roll tightly into a log, tucking edges to seal.
- 3
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Sear beef rolls 2 minutes per side until deeply browned. Set aside.
- 4
In the same skillet, stir minced onion with tomato paste and soy sauce until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- 5
Pour in water or broth, scraping up any brown bits. Return beef rolls to the pan, then simmer 6 minutes until glaze thickens.
- 6
Slide rolls onto a plate. Spoon warm glaze over the top and serve hot.
