Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork ribs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 300°F. Season ribs with salt and pepper, then place on a baking sheet.

  2. 2

Cover tightly with foil and bake for 2 hours until tender.

  3. 3

Brush ribs generously with barbecue sauce and return to oven, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

  4. 4

Meanwhile, slice onion into rings and soak in buttermilk for 10 minutes.

  5. 5

Dredge onion rings in flour, shaking off excess.

  6. 6

Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F. Fry onion rings in batches until golden, about 2 minutes per batch.

Drain onion rings on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.

  8. 8

Serve ribs hot with extra barbecue sauce and crispy onion rings on the side.
