Ingredients
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line with parchment paper.
- 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1.5 cups flour, 1.5 tsp baking powder, and 0.5 tsp salt.
- 3
In a large bowl, beat the 0.5 cup softened butter and 0.75 cup sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- 4
Add the 2 eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in the 0.5 cup milk until combined.
- 5
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until no streaks remain. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- 6
Sprinkle the 0.5 cup sliced almonds evenly over the top. Bake until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 30-35 minutes.
- 7
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
