Ingredients

  • 1 loaf store-bought pound cake (1 loaf, about 16 oz)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 set food coloring (6 colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1

Cut the pound cake lengthwise into 6 thin slices, each roughly 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

Pour heavy cream into a bowl. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Whip with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Divide whipped cream into 6 small bowls. Add one food coloring drop to each, stirring until evenly tinted.

  4. 4

Place the first cake slice on a plate. Spread 2 tbsp red cream on top, then layer the next slice.

  5. 5

Repeat with orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple cream between each slice, creating a rainbow stack.

  6. 6

Frost the top and sides with leftover cream. Slice and serve immediately for maximum visual impact.
