Ingredients

  • 2 large egg whites (or aquafaba)
  • 2.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp gel food coloring (optional)
  • 24 count store-bought sugar cookies
  • 2 tbsp sprinkles or edible glitter
  • 1 count piping bag and round tip (or small spoon)
  • 1 sheet parchment or wax paper

Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk egg whites in a bowl until foamy, about 30 seconds.

  2. 2

Add powdered sugar and lemon juice; stir until smooth and glossy, ~60 seconds. (It should flow like glue, not be runny.)

  3. 3

Divide icing into bowls if coloring. Add gel food coloring drop by drop, stirring until you reach the shade you want.

  4. 4

Spoon or pipe icing onto sugar cookies. Work fast — icing dries quickly.

  5. 5

Sprinkle edible glitter or sprinkles on each wet-iced cookie before the icing sets, ~30 seconds per batch.

  6. 6

Set on parchment paper and let sit 15–20 minutes until icing hardens. Serve or store in an airtight container.
