Ingredients

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • ⅓ cup dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • ½ cup whipped cream (or vanilla ice cream)

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking powder in a large mug (divide between two mugs for even cooking).

  2. 2

Pour milk into the dry mix and stir until just combined — a few lumps are fine.

  3. 3

Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the batter, then microwave on high for 90 seconds (a toothpick poked in the center should come out with a few wet crumbs).

  4. 4

Remove mug carefully — it will be very hot — and let it cool for 1 minute.

  5. 5

Top each mug cake with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
