Ingredients

  • 8 oz Xuanwei ham
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Slice the 8 oz Xuanwei ham into thin, even slices, about 1/8 inch thick. Trim off any tough rind if present.

  2. 2

Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Add the ham slices in a single layer, working in batches if needed to avoid crowding. Cook until the edges crisp and the fat turns translucent, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  4. 4

Flip and cook the other side until golden and slightly crispy, another 2 minutes. Transfer to a plate and serve hot.

  5. 5

Optional: sprinkle with a pinch of sugar or a few drops of honey while hot for a sweet-savory glaze.
