A crispy flatbread topped with seasoned minced meat, baked until golden, and served with fresh herbs and lettuce. This homemade version is simpler than traditional lahmacun but just as delicious.

Ingredients

  • 4 large flatbreads
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups lettuce
  • ½ cup fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 450°F. Finely chop the 1 onion and mince 2 garlic cloves if you have them. In a bowl, mix the 1 lb ground beef, chopped onion, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp salt, and 0.5 tsp black pepper until well combined.

  2. 2

Place the 4 flatbreads on two baking sheets. Spread the meat mixture evenly over each flatbread, leaving a small border. Drizzle with the 2 tbsp olive oil.

  3. 3

Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the meat is cooked through and the edges of the flatbread are golden and crisp. If you like, broil for the last 1-2 minutes for extra browning.

  4. 4

While the flatbreads bake, shred the 2 cups lettuce and chop the 0.5 cup fresh parsley. Squeeze half a lemon over the herbs if you have one.

  5. 5

Remove the flatbreads from the oven and let rest for 2 minutes. Top with the lettuce and parsley, then slice into wedges and serve hot.

  6. 6

Optional: add a dollop of plain yogurt or a drizzle of hot sauce before serving for extra flavor.
