Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium, chopped onion
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat the 2 tbsp olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the 1 chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

Add the 2 minced garlic cloves and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute, stirring constantly.

  3. 3

Pour in the 28 oz crushed tomatoes, 1 tsp salt, 0.5 tsp black pepper, and 1 tsp dried oregano. Stir to combine.

  4. 4

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Let it bubble gently, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors meld, about 20 minutes.

  5. 5

Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper if needed. Use immediately or cool and store.
