Ingredients

  • 4 medium tomatoes
  • 2 whole red chili peppers
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves
  • 1 whole lime
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Roughly chop the 4 tomatoes and 2 red chili peppers (remove seeds for less heat). Peel the 2 garlic cloves.

  2. 2

In a blender, combine the chopped tomatoes, chilies, garlic, juice of 1 lime, and 0.5 teaspoon salt. Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Pour in the blended sauce and cook, stirring, until it thickens slightly and darkens in color, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

Taste and adjust salt or lime juice if needed. Serve warm or at room temperature.
