Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup butter
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- 1
In a small saucepan, combine the 0.5 cup butter, 0.25 cup honey, and 0.25 cup water. Heat over medium until the butter melts and the mixture is smooth, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 2
In a large bowl, whisk together the 2 cups flour, 0.5 cup sugar, 0.25 teaspoon baking soda, and 0.25 teaspoon salt.
- 3
Pour the warm butter mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms, about 2 minutes. If too sticky, add a little flour.
- 4
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to about 1/8-inch thick. Use a cookie cutter or knife to cut into rectangles or shapes.
- 5
Place the cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them 1 inch apart. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until the edges are golden and the centers are set, about 10-12 minutes.
- 6
Let the tirggel cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. They will crisp as they cool.
