Ingredients
- 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1
Warm the 0.75 cup milk and 0.25 cup butter in a saucepan until butter melts, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1 packet yeast and 2 tbsp sugar; let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
- 2
Mix in 2.5 cups flour and 0.5 tsp salt to form a soft dough. Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth, then let rise in a greased bowl for 30 minutes until doubled.
- 3
Roll dough into a 12x9 inch rectangle. Spread with remaining 0.25 cup softened butter, sprinkle with 0.25 cup sugar and 2 tbsp cinnamon. Roll tightly from the long side and cut into 12 slices.
- 4
Place slices in a greased 9x13 inch pan, cover, and let rise 20 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375°F.
- 5
Bake buns for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. While warm, whisk 0.5 cup heavy cream with 0.25 cup powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- 6
Spread cream filling over warm buns, then dust with remaining 0.25 cup powdered sugar and sprinkle with coconut flakes if desired.
- 7
Serve warm or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
