Ingredients
- 4 slices (1 inch thick) brioche or challah bread
- 4 slices ham, thinly sliced
- 2 slices Swiss cheese, sliced
- 3 whole eggs
- ¼ cup milk or cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp butter

Whisk 3 eggs with milk, a pinch of salt, and a dash of vanilla or cinnamon until well combined.

Sandwich ham and cheese between 2 bread slices. Repeat with remaining bread. You should have 2 sandwiches.

Heat 2 tbsp butter in a 12-inch skillet over medium until foaming. Dip 1 sandwich into egg mixture, coating both sides evenly.

Fry sandwich 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy, pressing gently with a spatula. Transfer to a plate.

Repeat step 3–4 with remaining butter, egg mixture, and second sandwich. Fry until edges curl and color deepens.
