Ingredients
- 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup butter
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1.5 cups dried fruit mix
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1
Warm the 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup butter together until butter melts, about 2 minutes. Let cool to lukewarm.
- 2
In a large bowl, mix 2.5 cups flour, 1 tbsp yeast, and 1/4 cup sugar. Pour in the milk-butter mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled.
- 4
Punch down the dough and knead in 1.5 cups dried fruit until evenly distributed.
- 5
Shape the dough into an oval loaf about 1 inch thick. Fold one side over the other, slightly off-center, to create the classic stollen shape.
- 6
Place on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 7
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped. Cool completely, then dust generously with 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
