Ingredients
- 4 buns bao buns
- 1 lb chicken breast
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
Instructions
- 1
Slice the 1 lb chicken breast into 1/2-inch thick strips. Set up a breading station: 0.5 cup flour in one bowl, 1 beaten egg in another, and 1 cup panko in a third.
- 2
Dredge each chicken strip in flour, then egg, then panko, pressing gently to coat. Place breaded strips on a plate.
- 3
Heat 0.5 cup vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Fry the chicken in batches, without crowding, until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- 4
In a small bowl, mix 0.25 cup mayonnaise and 1 tbsp soy sauce until smooth. Set aside.
- 5
Steam the 4 bao buns according to package instructions, about 5 minutes, until soft and fluffy.
- 6
Open each bun and spread with the soy-mayo sauce. Add fried chicken, top with thinly sliced red onion and microgreens if you have them. Serve warm.
