Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ⅓ cup bread crumbs
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, half the garlic, cumin, 1 tsp salt, and 0.5 tsp pepper in a bowl until just combined.

  2. 2

Roll into 12–16 walnut-sized balls. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering.

  3. 3

Working in batches, sear meatballs 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown, then transfer to a plate.

  4. 4

Add remaining garlic to the skillet, stir for 30 seconds until fragrant, then pour in tomatoes and vinegar.

  5. 5

Return meatballs to the sauce, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer uncovered for 8–10 minutes until glossy.

  6. 6

Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Serve hot, spooning sauce over each meatball.

Tools you’ll need

  • large mixing bowl
  • large skillet (12-inch or larger)
