Ingredients
- 2 lb turkey breast
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- 1
Pat the 2 lb turkey breast dry with paper towels. Rub the 1 tbsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper all over the meat, then let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- 2
Preheat your smoker to 225°F. If using a charcoal or gas grill, set it up for indirect heat and add wood chips for smoke.
- 3
Brush the turkey breast with the 2 tbsp olive oil. Place it on the smoker grate, close the lid, and smoke for 1 hour.
- 4
After 1 hour, brush the turkey breast with 1/2 cup of the barbecue sauce. Continue smoking, basting with the remaining 1/2 cup sauce every 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F, about 2 to 2.5 hours total.
- 5
Remove the turkey from the smoker and let it rest for 10 minutes. The juices will redistribute, keeping the meat moist.
- 6
Slice the turkey breast against the grain and serve with extra barbecue sauce if desired.
