Ingredients

  • 1 6 oz salmon fillet
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Pat the 6 oz salmon fillet dry with paper towels. Season both sides with the 0.5 tsp salt and 0.25 tsp black pepper.

  2. 2

Heat the 1 tbsp olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Place the salmon skin-side down in the skillet. Press gently with a spatula for 10 seconds to ensure even contact.

  4. 4

Cook skin-side down without moving until the skin is golden and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. The edges should look opaque.

  5. 5

Flip the salmon and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the flesh is just opaque in the center and flakes easily with a fork.

  6. 6

Transfer the salmon to a plate and let it rest for 2 minutes before serving. The internal temperature should reach 125°F for medium.

  7. 7

Serve hot, skin-side up, with lemon wedges or your favorite sides if desired.
