Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 400°F. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp salt.

  2. 2

Cut 4 tbsp cold butter into small pieces and rub into the flour mixture with your fingers until it looks like coarse crumbs.

  3. 3

Add 1/2 cup water and stir until a dough forms. Knead gently on a floured surface for 2 minutes until smooth.

  4. 4

Roll the dough very thin, about 1/8 inch thick. Prick all over with a fork to prevent bubbling.

  5. 5

Cut into 2-inch squares and transfer to a baking sheet. Brush tops with a little water and sprinkle with 1 tsp coarse salt.

  6. 6

Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and crisp. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
