Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb pork shoulder, cut into 1.5-inch cubes
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 8 oz green beans, trimmed
  • 3 cups cabbage, roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic cloves, minced

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat 2 tbsp neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 1 minute.

  2. 2

Add pork cubes and brown on all sides without stirring constantly, 5 minutes total. Work in batches if needed.

  3. 3

Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant, 30 seconds only.

  4. 4

Pour in soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, and 0.5 cup water. Scrape up browned bits and stir well.

  5. 5

Simmer uncovered for 8 minutes until pork is tender and sauce darkens. Stir once halfway through.

  6. 6

Add green beans and cabbage, stir, and cook 2 more minutes until greens soften slightly.

  7. 7

Taste and adjust salt or vinegar. Serve hot over rice with extra vinegar on the side for dipping.
