Ingredients

  • 4 links (about 1 lb) biała kiełbasa (Polish white sausage)
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ medium yellow onion, halved
  • 4 slices rye or sourdough bread
  • 1 medium, sliced tomato
  • 1 tbsp, chopped fresh dill or parsley (optional)

Instructions

    Pour broth into a pot and bring to a steady simmer over medium heat, about 2 minutes.

    Slide sausages and onion halves into the broth. Simmer gently for 8 minutes until sausages are heated through.

    Toast bread slices in a dry skillet or toaster until golden and warm, about 2 minutes.

    Transfer sausages to a serving plate. Arrange bread, tomato slices, and onion alongside.

    Ladle a spoonful of broth over the sausages. Scatter fresh dill on top if desired. Serve immediately.
