Ingredients
- 2 round 9 inch layers store-bought sponge cake layers
- 1.5 cups white frosting
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp gelatin powder
- 1 cup strawberries
Instructions
- 1
Place 1 cake layer on a serving plate. Spread 0.5 cup of the white frosting over the top, then place the second layer on top. Chill for 10 minutes.
- 2
In a small bowl, sprinkle 1 tbsp gelatin over 2 tbsp cold water and let sit for 5 minutes. In a saucepan, heat 0.5 cup orange juice and 1 cup sugar over medium, stirring until sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the gelatin until fully dissolved.

Let the glaze cool to room temperature, about 10 minutes, until it thickens slightly but is still pourable. Pour the glaze over the chilled cake, letting it drip down the sides. Smooth with a spatula if needed.
- 4
Refrigerate the cake for 15 minutes until the glaze sets. Spread the remaining 1 cup white frosting around the sides of the cake, then top with 1 cup sliced strawberries and chocolate shards if desired.
