Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 2 tablespoons hot water (not boiling)
- 8 fluid ounces oat milk, warmed
- ½ tablespoon sweetener (maple syrup or agave)
- 4 cubes ice cubes (optional, for iced version)
Instructions
- 1
Heat water until steam rises from the surface, about 2 minutes on a stovetop or in a microwave (the water should be hot but not actively boiling—around 160–170°F if you have a thermometer).
- 2
Pour the matcha powder into a small cup or bowl, then add the 2 tablespoons of hot water and whisk with a small whisk or fork in quick back-and-forth motions until the powder is completely dissolved and the liquid turns bright green with no lumps, about 30 seconds.
- 3
Heat the oat milk in a separate small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it steams and is warm to the touch, about 2–3 minutes (do not boil).
- 4
Pour the warm oat milk into the cup containing the whisked matcha, then stir in 0.5 tablespoon of your chosen sweetener until it dissolves completely.
- 5
If making an iced version, fill a separate cup with 4 ice cubes, pour the matcha mixture over the ice, and stir once before drinking; otherwise, serve the warm latte immediately in your favorite mug.
