Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar; let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and remaining sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly.

  3. 3

Add yeast mixture and egg; knead into a smooth dough. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  4. 4

Pulse walnuts in a food processor until finely ground; set aside.

  5. 5

Roll dough into a large rectangle, spread walnuts evenly over it, then fold into thirds and roll out again.

  6. 6

Cut dough into triangles, roll each from the wide end to form a croissant shape.

  7. 7

Place on a baking sheet, brush with milk, and bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

  8. 8

Let cool slightly and dust with flour before serving.
