Ingredients
- 4 sticks mozzarella cheese sticks
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- 1
Insert a wooden stick into each mozzarella stick, pushing about halfway. Freeze for 30 minutes to keep cheese from melting too fast.
- 2
In a bowl, whisk flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add milk and egg; stir until smooth batter forms.
- 3
Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Dip each frozen cheese stick into batter, coating evenly.
- 4
Carefully place coated sticks into hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally.
