Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups chickpea flour
  • ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ medium, finely chopped onion
  • 1 finely chopped green chili
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup water

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, mix 1.5 cups chickpea flour, 0.5 cup whole wheat flour, 1 tsp salt, 0.5 tsp turmeric, and 1 tsp coriander powder.

  2. 2

Add 0.5 finely chopped onion and 1 finely chopped green chili to the flour mixture and stir to combine.

  3. 3

Gradually add 0.75 cup water, mixing with your hand to form a soft, pliable dough. Add a little extra water if needed.

  4. 4

Knead the dough for 2 minutes until smooth, then cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

  5. 5

Divide the dough into 6 equal balls. Dust each ball with flour and roll into a 6-inch round, about 1/4 inch thick.

  6. 6

Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each roti for 1-2 minutes per side until golden spots appear and it puffs slightly.

  7. 7

Brush with ghee or butter if desired and serve hot.
