Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp pinch of cayenne pepper
  • ½ cup marshmallows (for topping)
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks (for stirring)

Instructions

    Heat milk in a saucepan over medium until it begins to steam, ~4 minutes. Do not boil.

    Whisk in cocoa powder, sugar, cinnamon, and cayenne until no lumps remain and mixture is smooth.

    Pour into mugs. Use a cinnamon stick to stir vigorously in each mug until frothy, 30 seconds per mug.

    Toast marshmallows with a kitchen torch or under the broiler until golden, then pile on top. Serve hot.
