Ingredients
- 2 sheets pie crust
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a 9-inch pie dish with one pie crust sheet, pressing it into the bottom and sides.
- 2
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add 1 diced onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Add 1 lb ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up, until browned and no longer pink, about 8 minutes. Season with 1 tsp salt and 0.5 tsp black pepper.
- 4
Remove the beef mixture from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 5
Spoon the beef-cheese filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly.
- 6
Place the second pie crust sheet over the filling. Trim excess, crimp edges to seal, and cut a few slits on top for steam to escape.
- 7
Beat 1 egg in a small bowl. Brush the top crust with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- 8
Bake until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling, about 35-40 minutes. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
