Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- ½ medium onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1
Finely chop the 1/2 onion. In a large bowl, combine the 1 lb ground beef, 1 egg, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, chopped onion, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Mix with your hands until just combined.
- 2
Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Press your thumb in the center of each patty to make a slight indentation—this helps them cook evenly.
- 3
Heat the 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Carefully place the patties in the skillet, leaving space between them. Do not crowd the pan.
- 4
Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 160°F). The patties should feel firm to the touch and have a deep golden crust.
- 5
Transfer the patties to a plate and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot with mustard and a sprinkle of fresh parsley if desired.
