Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- ½ cup flour
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Finely chop the 1 medium onion. In a large bowl, combine the 1 lb ground beef, chopped onion, 1 tsp salt, and 0.5 tsp black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- 2
Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties, about 1 inch thick. Place the 0.5 cup flour in a shallow dish, beat the 1 egg in another, and put the 1 cup breadcrumbs in a third.
- 3
Dredge each patty in flour, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- 4
Heat the 0.5 cup vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 2 minutes. Carefully place the patties in the pan, making sure not to crowd them.
- 5
Cook the croquettes until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. The internal temperature should reach 160°F and the crust should be crispy.
- 6
Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve hot with mustard and a sprinkle of fresh parsley if desired.
