Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp matcha powder
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ cup milk

Instructions

  1. 1

In a microwave-safe bowl, whisk together 1 cup glutinous rice flour, 0.5 cup sugar, 2 tbsp matcha powder, and 0.75 cup water until smooth.

  2. 2

Cover bowl with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir, then microwave for another 1-2 minutes until the mixture is thick and translucent.

  3. 3

Dust a clean surface with 0.25 cup cornstarch. Turn the hot mochi onto it and let cool for 5 minutes.

  4. 4

While mochi cools, make the sauce: whisk 0.5 cup sweetened condensed milk with 0.25 cup milk until smooth.

  5. 5

Once cool enough to handle, dust your hands with cornstarch and knead the mochi a few times until smooth and elastic.

  6. 6

Roll the mochi into a log and cut into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball or leave as is.

  7. 7

Serve the mochi with the white sauce drizzled over or on the side for dipping.
