Ingredients

  • 8 buns frozen bao buns (or frozen steamed bun dough)
  • ½ lb ground pork
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 2 stalks scallion, sliced

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat a skillet over medium-high. Add ground pork and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, ~5 minutes.

  2. 2

Stir in garlic and ginger. Cook 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 3

Add soy sauce and brown sugar. Stir and simmer 2 minutes until sauce coats the meat.

  4. 4

Fold in sliced scallion. Set filling aside and let cool slightly, ~3 minutes.

  5. 5

Spoon 2 tbsp filling into the center of each bao bun. Seal gently by pinching the edges.

  6. 6

Place buns seam-side-down on a parchment-lined steamer basket. Steam over boiling water for 8 minutes.
