Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, whisk together the 3 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 tsp sugar, and 2 chopped green onions. Set aside as a dipping sauce.

  2. 2

Pat the 1 lb beef slices dry with paper towels. If they are thicker than 1/4 inch, pound them gently to an even thinness.

  3. 3

Preheat a charcoal or gas grill to high heat (about 450°F). You should be able to hold your hand 5 inches above the grate for only 2 seconds.

  4. 4

Grill the beef in a single layer, not crowding the grate, for 1-2 minutes per side until nicely charred and cooked to your liking (medium-rare is 130°F).

  5. 5

Transfer the grilled beef to a platter and sprinkle with the 1 tsp sesame seeds. Serve immediately with the dipping sauce on the side.
