Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup jelly (any flavor, such as strawberry or guava)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, beat 1/2 cup softened butter and 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk until creamy, about 2 minutes.

  3. 3

Add 1 egg yolk and 1/4 teaspoon salt; beat until combined.

  4. 4

Stir in 1.5 cups flour and 1 teaspoon baking powder until a soft dough forms. If too sticky, chill 10 minutes.

  5. 5

Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Press a thumbprint into each ball.

  6. 6

Fill each indentation with about 1 teaspoon of jelly.

  7. 7

Bake until edges are lightly golden, 12-15 minutes. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
